In autumn 2025, Galerie Ostendorff presented The Double Headed Pigeon, a major solo exhibition by Stohead.

Inspired by an intensive journey through Hong Kong, the exhibition marked a new chapter in the artist's practice. The city's density, visual rhythm, layered typography, and constant movement became the starting point for a body of work that transformed observations into abstract compositions.

Deeply rooted in graffiti culture, Stohead has spent over three decades working at the intersection of writing, image, and motion. This body of work brought together large-format canvases where lettering no longer primarily carried information, but instead operated as a visual, emotional, and spatial element, marking a new phase of formal and conceptual density in his practice.

Derived from the raw gesture of writing, Stohead's work developed into highly rhythmic systems. Words, quotes, and fragments were transferred into grids, layered, shifted, and reorganized layer by layer. Meaning surfaced and receded, forcing the viewer's eye to navigate between legibility and radical abstraction.

What initially appeared abstract revealed itself as condensed typographic architecture; what seemed readable dissolved into pure, energetic paint the very next moment.
